An award-winning filmmaker has announced plans for a sequel to his documentary on a County Durham non-league football club.

Last summer, Dean Midas spent four weeks with Willington AFC. during their pre-season, capturing their struggles after back-to-back relegations in his film titled 'The Road Back'.

Now, seven months on, the club is at the top of division one of the Wearside League under the leadership of Stephen Howe.

Chairman Carl Whelpdale said: "What we've all managed to achieve in such a short space of time has been nothing more than remarkable.

"Everyone involved in the club should be rightfully proud of what we have been able to achieve so far.

"We can't wait for Dean to start filming The Road Back Part 2."

Mr Midas said: "I couldn't have scripted Willington's season to date, any better than how it is going.

"They have 11 huge 'cup finals' to genuinely begin the road back to where they belong in the Northern League."
